Gavin Wax serves as Chief of Staff and Senior Advisor to Commissioner Nathan Simington at the Federal Communications Commission. He provides strategic counsel, manages the Commissioner’s office, and supports policy development and external engagement. Mr. Wax brings over a decade of experience in media, political communications, and public affairs. He has advised senior policymakers, led high-impact communications efforts, and built coalitions to advance regulatory and national security priorities. Mr. Wax focuses on issues including free speech, spectrum policy, emerging technologies, national security, and market-driven approaches to connectivity such as satellite internet. He is a frequent media commentator on technology, regulation, and public policy.

Thomas Struble
Senior Legal Advisor
Tom Struble serves as Senior Legal Advisor to Commissioner Simington. Prior to joining the Commissioner’s office, Tom served as a Legal Advisor in the Office of Engineering and Technology’s Office of the Chief Engineer. Tom also served on detail to the U.S. Senate Committee on Commerce, Science, and Transportation under Senator Ted Cruz. Prior to joining the FCC, Tom served in policy roles at R Street Institute and TechFreedom. He received his Juris Doctorate from The George Washington University Law School, where he was a Presidential Merit Scholar and an Articles Editor for the Federal Communications Law Journal. He graduated summa cum laude from the University of Kansas with Bachelor's Degrees in Political Science and Psychology, and he is a proud native of Salina, Kansas.

Sara Rahmjoo

Sara is Legal Advisor to Commissioner Simington. Prior to her role as Legal Advisor, Sara served as Commissioner Simington’s Policy Advisor and Confidential Assistant. She joined the Commission as an intern to Commissioner Simington in 2023. She earned her M.B.A. from American University Kogod School of Business, and received her bachelor’s from the University of Maryland, College Park.

Ania Urban serves as Confidential Assistant to Commissioner Simington. She is the primary point of contact for requesting meetings with the Commissioner.
